Gleaning

Too many Rainier cherries
the woman said
Come on over--
my neighbor's orchard--
the perfect crop--
unbought
untouched
priceless.

Too many?
Eyefuls
handfuls
mouthfuls--
Heaven
is an orchard.
Enough.
And more.

(Muchas gracias, Rosalio Moreno. El "producto de Dios" es bueno.)

Poem: Bitter-sweet

by George Herbert, 17th century poet and priest:

Ah my deare angrie Lord,
Since thou dost love, yet strike;
Cast down, yet help afford;
Sure I will do the like.

I will complain, yet praise;
I will bewail, approve:
and all my sowre sweet dayes
I will lament, and love.
